When there is not enough support in place to help people navigate Scotland's complex housing system, Housing Options Scotland can be a lifeline.

Every day our team supports people in housing need, whether that's disabled people who are homeless and struggling to find accessible temporary accommodation, older adults who need support to downsize, people trapped in hospital unable to return home due to inadequate adaptations, or families of younger disabled people wanting to make plans for the future.

Our expert brokers are here to listen, and to help people make informed choices to secure a safe and suitable home.

What your donation does

Supports our brokerage service

Your donation funds our brokerage service, enabling us to provide bespoke advice to people on a one-to-one basis. In order to build trust and offer the best support, it's important to us that we match clients with a single broker, that means we need to secure enough funding for a big enough brokerage team to serve the thousands of clients who contact us each year.

Helps us to train others to improve their services

We spend lots of time working with other charities and public bodies to advise them about all issues relating to housing, disabled people, older adults and veterans. Through those services and training, we make an even bigger impact across Scotland's housing and healthcare landscape.

Provides a platform for lived experience

As Scotland's only national housing charity for disabled people, older adults and veterans, we work with government and academics to bring the voice of our clients into research and policy development. Our work helps to ensure that the needs of disabled people, older adults and veterans are represented when future housing policy is being shaped.

Our impact

The feedback we receive from clients shows us why our work is so important.

Why we need your donations

As a charity, we rely solely on donations and grants. Since the pandemic, we have seen a major increase in clients, but our core funding has not kept pace with this. In 2020, for every client we supported, we had £660 to spend; in 2025, that figure dropped to £450. This financial strain puts pressure on the organisation, so every donation we receive from members of the public makes a difference.

How we use our funds responsibly

As a small charity, the vast majority of our funding is spent on staff costs, our service is about people helping people, and that will always be our priority. We operate on a lean budget and our annual accounts are audited and published with the Scottish Charity Register.
